Certified Facilitators
After finishing the basic and advanced modules (120 hours), you can choose to be a facilitator in training. As an ATB facilitator in training you will need to start using ATB regularly, either incorporating it in your classes/sessions or practicing it with small groups of friends.
Through practice, you will slowly integrate ATB in your being and you will also be able to recognise which material of ATB has not been assimilated and needs to be studied more deeply.
From here you will need to attend a minimum of 120 more hours of ATB intensives by repeating the Basic and Advanced modules.
While you keep integrating ATB, to help you to structure and deepen your work towards becoming an ATB certified facilitator, you will need comply with and submit the following:
Self Exploration
Log 50 hours of self-sensing explorations with a brief description of the essence of your personal experience. A log table can be downloaded by clicking here.
Work regularly with ATB exercises on your own or with a partner if needed (like in modeling). So that you can integrate them in your body and enhance your awareness of what each exercise addresses and brings to you.
You will also need to commit to a regular body practice introducing in it the ATB approach.
Practise with Groups
During the period of practice leading groups, you will need to work on making effective class plans and keep a log book of the sessions you do.
Log book (A sample can be downloaded by clicking here)
In a log book you make a short entry for each session you do with an overview of the session and your reflections for how to keep improving from session to session.
You will need to submit 50 hours of session-practices leading a group. Of these 25 sessions can be from the logged practice sessions you have been doing, and 25 sessions have to be done after you have completed the second round of workshops.
Class plans (an example of a class plan can be downloaded here)
You will need to submit 10 class plans that worked well from the sessions you did and have recorded in the log table, or new ones if you prefer.
Anatomy
Submit accreditation for a basic anatomy course. Knowledge of the skeleton, muscles, organs and nervous system of the body is indispensable for ATB.
On ATB:
Write a paper on ATB:
- What is ATB for you?
- How does it effect yourself and your life?
- What do you think or feel ATB can bring to others/to society?
Facilitate an ATB Session
Once the above conditions are met and after working on the received feedback, with the coaching of an ATB trainer, you will need to send us a video of about an hour of a session you facilitate. We will then give you feedback to help you progress further. Working with video material of sessions will take different time for different people.
Later on, when you feel ready, we will proceed with the logistical organization of a 2 hour session for a group in which a qualified trainer will be present.
Following this 2 hour session you will recieve further feedback on the things you need to work on.
Note that sometimes several live sessions might be needed.
Once you have integrated the bases of ATB you will be certified as an ATB facilitator.
As this is a learning process, having completed all the requirements does not necessarily mean that you will obtain certification. You may need to redo part of it and/or work on specific points.
Pedagogical Training
Awareness Through the Body does not offer pedagogical training and if you are not a teacher or a therapist, and want to work with children, you may also need to get training in this field.
Being a Certified Facilitator
The ATB Facilitator Certification attests that the person in possession of it is qualified/able to implement ATB programmes, ATB sessions and lead ATB exploratory workshops. However, this certification will not qualify the person to train people to become ATB Certified Facilitators; this is done by an ATB Trainer.
You will need to commit yourself to keep growing into, and integrating awareness in your life. You will need to have a daily practice where you explore yourself. It might be helpful to enroll in a physical discipline that fosters awareness, such as: Tai chi, Feldenkrais, Hatha yoga, and follow it using the ATB principles.
